Layne Riggs Dominates the Truck Series Race at IRP for His Fifth Win of 2026

The only time he gave up the lead was a two-lap stretch at the start of the second stage, when Front Row Motorsports teammate Chandler Smith cycled to the front. Riggs took it right back and never looked over his shoulder again.

The No. 34 BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing Ford was that good. Riggs said in victory lane that he spent most of the night on cruise control, and the numbers back him up. Leading all but two of 200 laps at a short, tricky track like IRP is not luck. It is a driver and a team that unloaded better than everyone else and never let the field get a breath.

This was win number five of the season for Riggs, a career best that already matches his win total from his previous two seasons combined. It was also the 10th Truck Series win of his career. The kid from Bahama, North Carolina is not sneaking up on anybody anymore.

Key Moments: The Hemric Wreck and a Red Flag

The night was clean up front but not everywhere. The biggest moment came when Daniel Hemric spun trying to make a move to the inside and collected Landen Lewis, who slammed the wall hard. Lewis's truck briefly caught fire, and NASCAR threw the red flag to clean up the mess. Hemric wound up 34th and Lewis was done for the night.

Later in the run, Grant Enfinger and Andres Perez got together right in front of Riggs, but NASCAR let it stay green and the leaders drove on. Christian Eckes looked quick early before mechanical trouble unraveled his night and dropped him to 33rd. All told the race ran with three cautions for 25 laps, which is a light night by short-track standards and part of why Riggs was able to control it start to finish.

The Points Picture: Riggs Closing On the No. 1 Seed

The win did more than pad Riggs's trophy case. He now leads the Truck Series standings by about 100 points over Kaden Honeycutt, and he is closing in on the No. 1 seed for the playoffs. Chandler Smith locked up a playoff berth with his fourth-place run, joining Riggs and Honeycutt as drivers who are already in.

The bubble is where it gets tense. Stewart Friesen holds the final playoff spot by a slim margin over Tyler Ankrum, and the regular season is running out of races to sort it out. One thing worth noting: Corey Heim, the driver a lot of fans still peg as the title favorite, was not entered at IRP. He is running a partial Truck schedule this year while making Cup starts for 23XI Racing, so he sits out some of these weeks. He still has three Truck wins in 2026, so do not count him out when the playoffs start. Who's Hot, Who's Not

Hot: Riggs, obviously, but also Ford as a whole. The blue oval put three trucks in the top four and Riggs alone gave Front Row Motorsports a record-setting season. Connor Mosack keeps quietly stacking strong runs and was the best non-Ford by a good margin. Ty Majeski brought the No. 88 home third and remains one of the most consistent trucks in the series.

Not: Christian Eckes and Daniel Hemric both had nights to forget, one to mechanical gremlins and one to a hard crash. And anyone chasing Riggs for the regular-season title is running out of room to make up ground.

The Bottom Line

Some races are won on the last lap. This one was won at the drop of the green. Layne Riggs is driving like the best truck in the garage right now, and the rest of the field is racing for second until somebody proves otherwise. Five wins, a points lead, and the No. 1 seed in sight. The Truck Series playoffs are going to run through the No. 34.
