Iowa Speedway Seating Guide: Best Seats, Seating Chart and Where to Sit (2026)
Iowa Speedway Seating Guide: Best Seats, Seating Chart and Where to Sit (2026)
Part of the Happy Hour Racing track guide series - where to sit, what you actually see, and which seats are worth the money.
Iowa Speedway seating is simpler than most Cup tracks. Every grandstand is on the frontstretch, every seat has a back, and the short oval lets you follow the whole lap from almost anywhere. The real choices are which side of the Newton Club, and how high.
The Short Version
- Best value: the upper Turn 4 Grandstand, sections 401 to 405. You see cars come off Turn 4, every restart and the finish line, with enough height to watch the whole lap. That is our opinion, not an official ranking.
- Think twice about: the first few rows of the far-end sections, 101 to 102 and 309 to 310. You are low, behind the catch fence, and the cars curve away from you.
- Shade: none in the grandstands. No stand has a roof and umbrellas are banned. The stands face roughly north-northeast, so the afternoon sun is at your back, not in your eyes.
Iowa Speedway Seating Chart and Track Layout
Iowa is a 0.875-mile D-shaped oval in Newton, with 12 to 14 degrees of progressive banking in the turns, 10 on the frontstretch and 4 on the backstretch. There is no backstretch grandstand. All of the seats line the frontstretch, split by the Newton Club in the middle.
Per the official grandstand map, there are four blocks. The lower frontstretch sections run 101 to 110 on the Turn 1 side of the Newton Club and 301 to 310 on the Turn 4 side. Above and behind them sit the Turn 1 Grandstand, sections 201 to 211, and the Turn 4 Grandstand, sections 401 to 411.
Best Seats at Iowa Speedway
Iowa's own site says the Newton Club has the best seats at the track. For a regular grandstand ticket, here is the honest version. Facts sourced, opinions ours.
Turn 4 Grandstand (401 to 411, upper). The one we would buy. Cars run out of Turn 4 and past you toward the line, so restarts, the fight for the lead off the corner and the finish all happen in front of you. Sections 401 to 405 sit closest to the Newton Club and the start-finish line. The higher sections toward 411 trade some of that for a better look into Turns 3 and 4.
Turn 1 Grandstand (201 to 211, upper). The same height on the other side of the club. You watch cars cross the line and dive into Turn 1, which is where plenty of Iowa passes get made. Sections 209 to 211 are nearest the line.
Lower frontstretch (101 to 110 and 301 to 310). The closest you can sit, and the loudest. The lower rows run 1 to 8 and the middle rows 9 to 18, per the official map key. At a track this flat and short, low rows look through the fence at cars that are past you in a blink. If you buy lower, buy the middle rows, and stay near the club: 108 to 110 or 301 to 303.
We could not confirm a permanent video board location from official sources, so lean on the free scanner and live leaderboard in the NASCAR Tracks App at the track.
General Admission: What You Actually Get
On the official grandstand map, every seat is a numbered section. There is no marked general admission area, and we could not find a general admission grandstand ticket for the Cup race on the track's own site. Iowa also requires a grandstand ticket for every guest regardless of age, so kids need a ticket too.
The bigger issue is demand. The Cup race has sold out every year since it arrived in 2024, so your paths are renewing, the track's 2027 pre-sale list, or resale. For a cheaper look at the place, try the ARCA or O'Reilly Auto Parts Series day on the same weekend.
Seating Capacity and How the Sections Are Numbered
Iowa Speedway's seating capacity is about 30,000. That is the widely reported figure. The track does not publish a current capacity on its own site, so treat it as the accepted number, not an official 2026 count.
The numbering is easy once you see it. The hundreds tell you the block: 100s and 200s are the Turn 1 side, 300s and 400s are the Turn 4 side. Lower sections are 100s and 300s, upper sections are 200s and 400s. On the Turn 1 side, numbers count up toward the Newton Club, so 110 and 211 are nearest the middle. On the Turn 4 side they count away from it, so 301 and 401 are nearest the middle. Row 1 is closest to the track.
If your tickets are in 105, 109, 302 or 306, check the official map key, which lists those four sections row by row as a mix of bench rows and open rows.
Shade, Sun and Weather
Nobody writes this part, so here it is. No grandstand at Iowa has a roof, and umbrellas are on the prohibited list, so you cannot bring your own shade either. Hats and sunscreen are the plan, and aerosol sunscreen is specifically allowed.
The geometry helps. The compass on the official map shows the stands face roughly north-northeast, so the afternoon sun sits behind you instead of in your eyes. For the August 2026 race, with a 2:30 p.m. local green flag, that meant hot necks and backs, not squinting. The 2027 race moves to Sunday, July 4, so plan for peak summer heat either way. The only climate-controlled option is the Newton Club, which has an air-conditioned indoor lounge for club ticket holders.
Accessible Seating
Iowa states it plainly: all ADA grandstand seats are on the ground level of the grandstands, and there is also accessible seating in the Newton Club. An elevator serves the suite areas. Guests with a service animal can request wheelchair seating so the animal has room.
You can bring your own wheelchair or ECV scooter up into the grandstands and store it under the stands near your section. ADA parking is first come, first parked on the paved Midway near ticket booth 1, and golf carts and trams help with longer trips. Buy accessible seats through the ticket office at 866-787-8946. On event days Guest Services is 641-791-8300.

The Bottom Line
Iowa is the rare track where almost every seat sees the whole lap, so pay for height and position, not proximity. Go high in the Turn 4 Grandstand near the club for restarts and the finish, skip the low rows at the far ends, and pack sunscreen, because nothing up there has a roof.
Verify before you buy. Section numbers, capacity, general admission and accessible seating can change season to season, and Iowa is repaving and updating the Newton Club and suites for 2027.
