Indianapolis Motor Speedway Parking Guide: Where to Park, Parking Map and What It Costs (2026)

The Short Version

Where to Park at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Indianapolis Motor Speedway parking is really two decisions: which road you come in on, and which lot on that road you want. The speedway sits at 4790 West 16th Street, and the lots ring the property along 16th Street on the south, Georgetown Road on the west and 30th Street on the north.

The free one first. Lot 7, the North 40, is free on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Brickyard weekend. You get in through Gate 10 from 30th Street, and Gate 10 takes both eastbound and westbound traffic, which is rarer than it sounds. Motorcycles park free in the North 40 on Saturday and Sunday, first come first served, and in the South Carousel Lot on Friday.

The paid outside lots are the ones closest to the grandstands. On Cup race day those are Lot 1B, Lot 2 and Lot 3G. On Saturday the speedway adds the Main Gate lot and prices the group at 20 dollars. IMS does not publish a Sunday price, so do not assume it matches Saturday - buy through the official race day parking link or call the ticket office at 317-492-6700.

Where each lot sits, straight off the speedway's own lot table:

• Lot 1B - Georgetown Road, south of 30th Street.
• Lot 2 - Georgetown Road, across from Gate 6.
• Lot 6A - Georgetown Road, north of 21st Street.
• Lot 8 - Georgetown Road, north from Gate 7.
• Lot 3G - 16th Street, across from Gate 12.
• Main Gate - 16th Street, both east and west of Polco Street.
• Gate 1 Lot - near Gate 1, north of Crawfordsville Road.
• Lot 7, the North 40 - through Gate 10 via 30th Street.
• Turn 3 Infield - through Gate 10 from 30th Street.

Two rules catch people out at the gate. One pass gets one vehicle into one space, and a pass with no vehicle attached is not good for any space on the property. Every vehicle also has to fit a 10 foot by 20 foot space, and buses and box trucks are refused. Not driving yourself? Uber, Lyft and taxis use Lot 3P on 16th Street, and bicycle parking is outside Gates 1, 6 and 9.

Do You Need a Parking Pass in Advance at Indianapolis?

For the North 40 you need nothing. Drive up, come through Gate 10, park, walk in.

Three things need sorting before you leave home. Gate 2 is credential-only on Saturday and Sunday, so every vehicle through it needs a pre-paid parking pass already. Gate 2 also cannot be reached from the west, so approach from the east and turn right into Tunnel 2. Turn 3 infield parking is pre-sold only and was 25 dollars for Saturday, entered through Gate 2 from 16th Street or Gate 10 from 30th Street. And accessible parking in the paid lots goes through the ticket office, covered below.

Sellout risk on the free lot is manageable. The North 40 is a large field, so the risk is less that it fills and more that the good rows go early. The speedway tells anyone needing the free accessible spaces to arrive early, and that holds for everybody.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Parking Map

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway parking map is really a map of three roads. Georgetown Road on the west carries Lots 1B, 2, 6A and 8. 16th Street on the south carries Lot 3G, the Main Gate lot and the rideshare lot. 30th Street on the north carries Gate 10, which feeds the free North 40 and the Turn 3 infield.

Infield, RV and Camping Parking

Indianapolis separates day parking from camping, and the camping menu is deep. RV sites are sold in Lot 2, Lot 6 off Meyers Drive, Lot 3G, Lot 3P and the Turn 4 infield. Electrical service is a separate purchase through the ticket office, offered in Lots 3P, 4 and 6 and the Turn 4 infield, with 30 amp and 50 amp depending on the lot. Tent camping is in Lot 1A between Gate 9 and Gate 9A, Lot 2, Lot 3G and Lot 4 at 25th Street and Georgetown Road.

Four-day camping passes for the 2026 weekend checked in from 7 a.m. Thursday and cleared out by noon Monday, with Wednesday arrivals staging from 3 p.m. in Lot 1C or the Main Gate lot. Expect the same shape in 2027 and confirm when IMS posts the dates.

Showers are complimentary out of Lot 1A and Lot 2, and RV pump-out and water fills go through Service Sanitation at 1-800-909-5646. The one curfew rule: campers must be inside their own assigned campsite between 1 a.m. and public gate opening.

Accessible Parking and Shuttles at Indianapolis

This is the part Indianapolis does better than most Cup tracks, and it starts with the free option. Free accessible parking is available in the North 40, Lot 7, every day of the Brickyard weekend. The speedway's own guidance is to arrive early for the best shot at it. Staff check state-issued disability placards, hangtags or plates when you pull up.

Paid accessible parking sits much closer in. On Cup race day it is offered at the Northwest Gravel, Lot 2, the Gate 1 Lot, Lot 3P, West Museum, the Flag Lot, Tower Suites and Hulman. Saturday is the same list without Hulman, and on Friday all of it is free. Any of it is arranged through the IMS ticket office at 317-492-6700 or ada@brickyard.com.

Now the shuttle question, because there is a catch worth knowing. IMS runs access shuttle carts on major event days and some carry ramps, but the carts stay inside the gates. They will not run you out to an exterior lot and back, so the walk from your car to the gate is on you. That is the real argument for the paid accessible lots if that walk is the hard part of your day. Inside, elevators serve the Paddock Penthouse, A Penthouse, B Penthouse and Tower Terrace ADA.

Getting In and Getting Out

Arrive earlier than you think. On Cup race day the outside lots open two hours before the gates, at 8 a.m., and the inside lots open with the gates at 10 a.m. Saturday runs tighter, outside at 10 a.m. and inside at 11 a.m. Friday opens outside lots at 9 a.m.

The routing problem is the closed 16th Street bridge over White River. The speedway says to use the 10th, Michigan, New York or Washington Street bridges instead and take White River Parkway north to 16th Street, or stay on 10th Street to Tibbs Avenue and turn north. The cleaner option for most fans is the reopened 30th Street bridge straight into Gate 10, which is also where the free parking lives.

Two road closures bite about an hour before the green flag and hold until the checkered: the stretch between 16th Street and Olin Avenue, and Georgetown Road south of 25th Street. To reach a Georgetown Road lot after that, southbound traffic takes 25th Street to Auburn Street and northbound takes Crawfordsville Road to Winton Avenue. Better plan: be parked first.

Getting out is handled by public safety officials directing each lot to the fastest available route, with vehicles held until pedestrian traffic clears. The speedway does not publish a clear-out time and we are not going to invent one for a facility this size. Assume patience, and if you have a hard deadline, the North 40 off 30th Street empties away from the 16th Street crush rather than into it.

Indianapolis is the rare big track where the free option is genuinely good. The North 40 costs nothing, takes motorcycles, holds the free accessible spaces, and sits on the side of the property that empties away from the worst of the traffic. Pay for a Georgetown Road or 16th Street lot only if the shorter walk is worth real money to you, and buy the Turn 3 infield or anything through Gate 2 before you leave home, because neither is a walk-up. Then get one thing right: do not let your phone send you over the closed 16th Street bridge.
