Homestead-Miami Speedway Fan Guide: Cooler Policy, Bag Policy and What to Bring (2026)

Homestead-Miami Speedway gets the biggest race of the year in 2026. NASCAR Championship Weekend runs November 6 through 8, and the Cup Series title is decided there on Sunday, November 8 over 267 laps. It is the first time since 2019 that all three national series crown their champions in South Florida. If you are going, the good news is that Homestead has one of the friendlier gate policies on the schedule, including outside alcohol. Here is exactly what you can bring.

Cooler Policy at Homestead-Miami Speedway

The Homestead-Miami Speedway cooler policy allows one soft-sided cooler per guest, up to 14 inches by 14 inches by 14 inches. That is a true cube limit, so most 18-can to 24-can soft bags clear it.

Foam and hard-sided coolers are prohibited, and so is any cooler larger than the allowable size. There is no bag check at the gates, so an oversized cooler is not something you can leave and pick up later. Items left at the gates get removed and thrown away.

Ice is explicitly permitted, which is not true at every track. Dry ice is not. Glass and ceramic of any kind are prohibited, so cans and plastic only.

Bag Policy at Homestead-Miami Speedway

Homestead works on a two-bag limit per person. The two items can be any combination of:

• A bag or backpack that does not exceed 18 by 18 by 14 inches
• A soft-sided cooler that does not exceed 14 by 14 by 14 inches

The one restriction on combining them is that you get only one soft-sided cooler per guest. So a cooler plus a backpack works, two backpacks works, two coolers does not. All bags are subject to inspection.

One detail that trips up photographers and scanner renters: camera bags and scanner bags are prohibited as separate items. The gear itself is welcome, but it has to ride inside one of your two allowed bags or be worn on your neck or belt.

Prohibited Items at Homestead-Miami Speedway

This is the official list from the track's fan guide. Read it before you pack, because several entries are specific to Homestead.

• Foam and hard-sided coolers
• Camera bags and scanner bags as separate carry items
• Weapons, including firearms, knives and pocket knives, and anything restricted by local, state or federal law
• Displays of the confederate flag

• Drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles
• Frisbees, balloons, beach balls or any other projectile

• Obscene or indecent clothing

Security can refuse anything else it judges unsafe or inappropriate, and the list can change without notice. The two that catch families most often are wagons and collapsible chairs. Plan on carrying what you bring.

What You Can Bring In

Homestead's permitted list is genuinely generous, and it is the reason this track is a favorite among traveling fans:

• Pre-packaged and sealed food and beverages, including alcohol. No glass. This is rare on the Cup schedule and worth planning around.
• Ice
• Insulated cups up to 64 ounces
• Sunscreen, sunblock, hand sanitizer and bug spray in aerosol, gel or liquid form
• Cameras, binoculars, scanners and headsets worn over the neck, on the belt or carried in your bag
• iPads, tablets and laptops
• Seat cushions without metal components
• Cigarettes and lighters
• Service animals
• Nationality flags on a pencil-sized wooden stick, as long as they do not block another fan's view

Note the metal rule on seat cushions. A stadium seat with a metal frame or metal hinges will be turned away. A plain foam or gel cushion is fine, and on aluminum benches in November sun you will want one.

Grandstands, Seating and the Layout

Homestead-Miami Speedway is a 1.5-mile oval with progressive banking through the corners, which is the single most important thing to know about watching a race here. The banking increases as you move up the track, so drivers can run three and four lanes wide and the fast line drifts all the way to the outside wall as the tires give up. From the grandstands you see cars racing at different heights of the corner at the same time.

All ticketed track seating areas are smoke-free, and that includes electronic and vapor cigarettes. Smoking is permitted in open-air areas: behind the ground-level grandstands, outside hospitality on ground level, display areas, parking lots and RV lots.

Getting There and Race-Day Tips

Put 1 Ralph Sanchez Speedway Blvd, Homestead, FL 33035 in your GPS. The track partners with Waze and updates routing live with police and the Florida DOT, so Waze is the app to use on race day.

General parking is free. Lots open at 6:00 AM Saturday and 7:30 AM Sunday, and overnight parking is not permitted. If you want the fastest walk to the gates, the Orange VIP lot is the paid upgrade. Accessible parking sits in the Blue Lot and Lot A on a first-come basis and requires a state-issued disabled plate or hanging credential, with the pass holder present in the car.

Remember the cashless policy. Food, beverage, ticket and merchandise transactions all take cards only. Parking is the one place that still accepts cash.

Free disability assistance carts run between the lots and the admission gate nearest your seat, and you can request one at an Information Center or by calling 305-230-5077. Tipping the drivers is not permitted.

For camping, the campground line is 866-409-7223. RV spaces run about 20 by 50 feet, self-contained RVs only, with one tow vehicle per space parked inside the space. Quiet hours run midnight to 6:00 AM and generators cannot run during them. Bicycles are permitted in the campgrounds even though they are prohibited inside the gates. Non-metal flagpoles are capped at 15 feet and metal flagpoles are not allowed to be raised anywhere on property.

Fan Tips

What the regulars actually do at Homestead:

• Use the alcohol allowance. Sealed cans in your soft cooler are permitted, which is not the case at most Cup tracks. Just double-check that nothing is glass.
• Bring the 64-ounce insulated cup. It is explicitly allowed and South Florida in November is still warm.
• Check your seat cushion for metal. A hinge or frame will get it turned away at the gate.
• Pack sunscreen and bug spray. Both are permitted in aerosol form as a specific exception, and you will want both this close to the Everglades.
• Carry a card, not cash. The only cash transaction on the property is parking.
• Get your camera and scanner into a main bag. The dedicated camera bag is what gets stopped, not the camera.

Homestead asks less of you than most Cup tracks. Leave the hard cooler, the folding chair, the wagon and anything glass in the car, bring a card instead of cash, and you will walk right in to watch a championship get decided.
