Richmond Raceway Parking Guide: Where to Park, Parking Map and What It Costs (2026)

The Short Version
Richmond Raceway parking, in three lines:
- Cheapest lot: general parking is free. Lot D is on the property through Gate 4 or Gate 6, Lot J is the off-site overflow through Gates 14 and 15. Both first come, first served.
- Pass needed in advance: no, not for general parking. Only Premium Parking and the club lots need one, and Premium has sold out for the Cup date before.
- The one trap: Lot J's shuttle runs on NASCAR Cup Series race day only and loops every 30 to 45 minutes. Get sent out there late and the ride back is the slowest part of your night.
Where to Park at Richmond Raceway
Richmond Raceway sits at 600 East Laburnum Avenue, inside the city rather than out in a field, so there is no endless ring of open ground around it. The track works around that with two free general lots, one paid premium lot and a few pass-only club lots, and it sorts you at the gate rather than in the lot.
Lot D, on the property, free. The main general lot and the one you want. Enter through Gate 4 at 810 E. Laburnum Avenue or Gate 6 at 4200 Carolina Avenue. First come, first served, and it feeds straight into Commonwealth Mall and the Fan Zone.
Lot J, off the property, free. Enter through Gates 14 and 15 at 5900 Richmond-Henrico Turnpike. Lot J opens on NASCAR Cup Series race day only and runs a complimentary climate-controlled bus shuttle to the drop-off area. Air conditioning counts for something in Virginia in August, but it is the overflow lot for a reason.
Premium Parking, paid, closer to the gates. The Premium Parking Pass puts you nearer the entrances and enters through Gate 2 at 700 E. Laburnum Avenue. Richmond does not publish a flat price for it on the track website, because it is sold through the ticket system and priced by date. Do not trust a number you read somewhere else.
Club lots and rideshare. Richmond Nation and Torque Club members enter through Gate 6, with Torque Club in Lot T. Lot E is also pass-only through Gate 6, and charter buses use Gate 4. Uber and Lyft drop off in the Dominion Car Wash lot at 609 E. Laburnum Avenue, across the street. The track is blunt about that one: do not jaywalk across Laburnum, walk to the crosswalk at the light.
Do You Need a Parking Pass in Advance?
For general parking, no. Lot D and Lot J are free and open to anyone with a ticket. No pass, no pre-purchase, no reservation.
For Premium Parking, yes, and buy it early. Richmond's own parking page has listed it sold out for the Saturday Cup date while still selling the Friday pass, which tells you how the close-in spots move. One detail that saves real time: if you hold any pass, have it displayed on your phone before you reach the track. Richmond scans passes on entry to the lot, and cell service in a line of ten thousand cars is exactly as good as you would expect.

The most useful thing to know about the Richmond Raceway parking map is that the gate you enter decides the lot you get.

Infield, RV and Camping Parking
Start with the thing people get wrong: you cannot park in the Richmond infield. The vehicle tunnel near Turn 3 is credentialed only. Fans reach the Virginia Is For Lovers Infield FanGrounds on foot through the pedestrian tunnel between the Commonwealth and Veranda grandstands, entrance facing ticket Gate 40.
RV and tent camping is all reserved and all outside the track gates. Main RV and Turn 3 RV have full hookups, and Turn 3 includes admission for four with infield FanGrounds access. Lot C Laburnum runs water and electric in Laburnum North and dry camping in Laburnum South. Lot F is dry camping with a premium section on 50-amp electric and water. Tent camping sits outside Turn 4, one vehicle and one 10x10 tent per site.
Rates are sold per event, so check them when you book. The service fees Richmond does publish: non-potable water up to 50 gallons is $55 per service, pump-out is $55 per service, and a personal port-a-john is $95 to rent with cleaning at $25 per service. One rule catches people every year: no non-licensed motorized vehicles anywhere on the property, which covers golf carts, scooters, ATVs, UTVs, e-bikes, hoverboards and riding coolers.
Accessible Parking and Shuttles
Richmond runs accessible parking as first come, first served rather than by pre-sold pass. The track's parking page lists Gates 2 and 6 and the Service Gate on Richmond-Henrico Turnpike, and its ADA page also lists Gate 4. Since the two official pages differ, aim for Gate 2 or Gate 6, get there early, and follow the officer directing traffic. If the closest lots are full you may be sent to a satellite accessible lot.
Bring more than the placard. Richmond requires a valid photo ID to enter the ADA lots, the permit hung on the rearview mirror with valid decals on both sides, and the permit number shown at the front of the windshield. A handicapped plate plus photo ID works in place of a permit. Officers verify the permit holder is actually in the car, and Virginia treats misuse as a Class 2 misdemeanor.
Richmond also runs handicap assistance carts, and this is the part almost nobody explains. They do not pick up at your space or your campsite. They run a fixed route between Guest Services tents, one disabled guest plus one companion per cart, and they are busiest two to three hours before the green flag, when the track says waits can approach an hour. Afterward they start 30 minutes post-race from the Virginia Is For Lovers Frontstretch Gate, Gate 40 in Turn 1 and Gate 70 in Turn 4, dropping only at the outer edges of the lots. Richmond does not rent wheelchairs or scooters.
Getting In and Getting Out
Go early. That is the whole strategy at a free first-come lot. Lot D fills from the gate inward, and the gap between arriving with the crowd and arriving ahead of it is the difference between a short walk down Commonwealth Mall and a shuttle ride from Lot J. The Fan Zone is free and breaks down once the race starts, so arriving early buys you something to do rather than just a better space.
Getting out is where the city location helps. Every exit feeds Interstates 95, 64 and 295, so traffic gets distributed instead of funneled down one two-lane road. The catch, and the track says this plainly, is that you may not exit through the same gate you entered, so do not plan your escape around retracing your route in.
